M30 RGB out of the box

Sharkoon, a renowned PC maker, offers a wide array of products including cases, power supplies, and cooling systems. They also provide a broad selection of gaming accessories, such as keyboards, mice, and gaming chairs.

The M30 series cases are divided into two types: the M30 Black and the M30 RGB that we’re unboxing today. The M30 Black is a non-transparent version that comes with two 12cm matte PWM fans, priced at 1790 yuan. On the other hand, the M30 RGB, equipped with one ARGB fan and one non-illuminated PWM fan, is priced at 2390 yuan.

The front of the Sharkoon M30 RGB features a mesh panel with rounded corners that extend to both sides, providing ample airflow for internal components. The non-perforated tempered glass is secured with two thumb screws and tenons, minimizing the risk of shattering. There’s also a cutout in the power supply compartment, making it convenient to showcase the power unit.

The front panel, crafted from plastic, is secured with clips. It can be disassembled with minimal effort, revealing an additional layer of a dust-filter net within.

The internal configuration employs a lower power supply layout, supporting front or top-mounted 360mm water cooling, a 172mm CPU radiator, and comes equipped with an ARGB PWM fan along with a non-illuminated PWM fan. For convenience, pre-installed screws are placed on the top of the power supply compartment for securing two 2.5-inch hard drives.

The Sharkoon M30 RGB provides around 2cm of cable space on its backplane, which is quite sufficient. It includes a 1:4 ARGB HUB. On the rear side of the motherboard, there are two 2.5-inch hard drive bays, with an additional pull-out 3.5-inch hard drive bay situated at the bottom. If you wish to install two 3.5-inch hard drives, the second one needs to be secured atop the hard drive bracket.

Sharkoon M30 RGB case installation test

The Sharkoon M30 RGB can accommodate the largest E-ATX motherboards. If you’re using an E-ATX board, like the GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS XTREME, it may cover some of the cable management holes. However, the case smartly features two rows of wiring holes, ensuring there’s no complication during installation and cable routing.

The Sharkoon M30 RGB can support either front or top-mounted 360mm water cooling systems, but not simultaneously. If a 360mm water cooling system is installed on top, the tubing may obstruct the side fan. Therefore, it is advisable to install it on the front. The unit can support a system of up to 60mm in thickness (fan included). Mainstream integrated water cooling systems can easily be installed, and a 25mm thick fan can also fit within the front panel’s interior.

The case accessories include a vertical graphics card bracket, but you’ll need to purchase a PCIe extension cable separately. The vertical graphics card slot accommodates only two slots and is located close to the glass side panel. Consequently, it’s not advisable to install a graphics card thicker than two slots due to potential heat dissipation issues.

Installing 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives on the rear side of the case is rather straightforward. However, when mounting a 2.5-inch hard drive above the drive bay, the cables should face either the side or the front to maintain aesthetics. The accessories include only two sets of 2.5-inch trays. If you need to install four 2.5-inch hard drives, additional trays will need to be purchased separately. It’s recommended to start the installation from the rear side.

During this installation test, the length of the power supply unit is 15cm, and the bottom cable hiding space is just adequate. If the power supply unit exceeds 17cm, you might need to forgo the 3.5-inch hard disk rack to ensure proper fitting.

Heat dissipation test

The CPU stress test was conducted using AIDA64 FPU, while Furmark was utilized for the GPU stress test, both for a duration of 10 minutes. The peak temperature readings were recorded using HWiNFO64.

Testing Equipment:

CPU: Intel Core i7-12700F
Mainboard: Asrock Z690 PG Velocita
Cooling System: Fractal Design Celsius+ S36 Prisma
RAM: KELVV DDR5-6200 16GB*2
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition
Case: Sharkoon M30 RGB
OS: Windows 11 Professional Edition 21H2

In tests with the side panel attached, the CPU peaked at 85 degrees, and the GPU maxed out at 79 degrees. Once the side panel was removed, there was a minor decrease of 1.5 degrees in the GPU’s maximum temperature.

Conclusion

The installation process is overall quite seamless, with large threading holes that aren’t covered by any rubber padding. This makes it a breeze to set up for the average user, maximizing space usage in the process. For its size, the Sharkoon M30 RGB isn’t overly large, yet it accommodates mainstream 360mm water cooling and 350mm graphics cards. The front grill design offers enough airflow to effectively cool all components while also sporting a comprehensive set of IO connectors.

The Sharkoon M30 Black is priced at 1790 yuan, and the M30 RGB at 2390 yuan. The product, overall, meets expectations and is reasonably priced. However, it’s worth noting that the market is competitive at this price point with a multitude of options available. Sharkoon could potentially elevate its offering by, for example, including three ARGB fans to bolster perceived value for the customer.
