FSP Hydro G PRO ATX3.0 PCIe5.0 850W power supply out of the box / Industrial moisture-proof gold medal Japanese standard body
FSP’s popular Hydro G PRO ATX3.0 PCIe5.0 850W power supply has earned the 80 PLUS Gold certification, achieving up to 90% conversion efficiency. It utilizes an LLC half-bridge resonant structure with a DC-DC voltage regulator for the +12V single-rail power output. Equipped with a 120mm FDB fluid dynamic bearing fan, an Eco fan temperature control switch, all-Japanese 105°C electrolytic capacitors, and multiple protective mechanisms, this power supply offers reliability and performance.
The updated Hydro G PRO adheres to the latest ATX12V V3.0 and EPS12V V2.92 standards, handling increased CPU peak currents. It can also manage a 200% instantaneous change in 12VHPWR dynamic output for 100 microseconds, ensuring it can meet the higher instantaneous current demands of next-generation CPUs and GPUs.

The power supply achieves 80 PLUS Gold certification, reaching a 90% power conversion efficiency under 50% load. Additionally, it features an Eco fan speed control that automatically stops when the load is below 30%. When the load surpasses 30%, the fan speed increases to over 800 RPM, with a maximum of 1300 RPM at 100% load and noise levels below 30dB.

Included with the power supply are installation instructions, interchangeable label stickers, 12VHPWR installation guidelines, jumper connectors, screws, and all-black modular flat cables. When connecting the 12VHPWR cable, make sure to plug it directly into the interface, ensuring the connector is fully inserted. Additionally, maintain a 3-5cm gap on both the graphics card and power supply ends. Avoid bending the cable excessively to prevent any impact on user safety.

The FSP Hydro G PRO ATX3.0 PCIe5.0 850W power supply features a matte black painted casing and maintains the standard mainstream dimensions of 15 x 15 x 8.6cm. The front is equipped with a 120mm FDB fluid-bearing fan, while the Eco fan switch provides better fan speed control for users who prefer a quieter experience.

The rear of the power supply houses the Mains AC In connector, power switch, and Eco fan switch.

The power module connector offers ATX/MB 20+4 Pin, 2 CPUs, 3 PCIe, 1 12VHPWR, and 5 sets of peripheral module connectors.

The high-capacity power meter indicates that a single +12V rail can achieve a maximum current of 70.83A and a total power output of 850W.

The power supply’s cooling fan is an MGA12012XF-O25 120mm FDB fluid-bearing fan. Internally, it features an APFC, LLC half-bridge resonant structure and a DC-DC voltage regulator design.

With a fully modular design and black flat cables, the power supply simplifies installation and cable management for users. The 12VHPWR connecting wire features a braided mesh covering for added durability.

The power supply includes 2 CPU/EPS 4+4 Pin connectors to deliver power to the CPU.

The conventional PCIe power supply features a total of 3 PCIe 6+2 Pin connectors. However, when installing graphics cards below the RTX 30 and RX 7000 series, it is recommended to use only one PCIe 6+2 Pin connector per connecting cable to ensure a stable power supply for the graphics card.

The PCIe 12+4 Pin 12VHPWR connector comes with a braided wire cover. This wire is thicker, and more rigid, and the connector is more robust, allowing for a secure and firm insertion into the graphics card’s power interface.

The power supply includes 5 peripheral module cables: 2 of them have a total of 8 SATA connectors; the next 2 consist of 4 SATA and 4 large 4-pin connectors; and the last one features 2 SATA, 1 large 4-pin, and 1 4-Pin floppy connector.
There are 2 kinds of SATA power connectors: standard pierced SATA power cables and Y-shaped SATA power cables.

Hydro G PRO ATX3.0 PCIe5.0 850W and RTX 4070 Ti stress test
For testing purposes, the OCCT stress testing software is employed to conduct a dual load test on the CPU and GPU. The software is used to check the voltage conditions of +12V, +5V, and +3.3V, as reported by the motherboard. The NVIDIA PACT tool is utilized to assess GPU power consumption and the varying current. The hardware components used in the testing include an Intel Core i9-13900K processor and an RTX 4070 Ti graphics card.

Test platform
Processor: Intel Core i9-13900K
Motherboard: ASRock Z790 Taichi
Memory: KLEVV DDR5-5600 UDIMM 16GBx2
Display card: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti EAGLE
System disk: Solidigm P41 Plus 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD
Radiator: 360mm AIO water cooling
Power supply: Hydro G PRO ATX3.0 PCIe5.0 850W
Operating system: Windows 11 Pro 22H2
During the stress test of the CPU and GPU using OCCT, the computer’s total wattage reached approximately 742W. The motherboard voltage information monitored by OCCT showed a stable range between 11.904-11.712V for +12V, with similar stability for +5V and +3.3V. This performance meets the stable high-wattage requirements for the high-end i9-13900K and RTX 4070 Ti under simultaneous load.

Next, the NVIDIA PACT tool was used, and during standby, the first set of 12V1 voltage was measured at 12.081V / 0.425A / 5.135W. The PCIe Slot of the graphics card consumed only 5.1W of power.
Running “Cyberpunk 2077” at 4K with ray tracing set to ultra and DLSS 3 quality settings, the GPU’s average power consumption was approximately 232.4W, with an instantaneous maximum of 298.8W. The 12V1 rail reached a current of 14.4A during this test.
Lastly, the Furmark Xtreme burn-in test was conducted, resulting in the GPU’s average power consumption of 277.9W and an instantaneous peak of 296.7W. The 12V1 rail’s measured power consumption was 11.994V, 21.3A, and 256.2W.
