An excellent selection for enhancing your document storage capacity: the KLEVV CRAS C730 M.2 SSD!

KLEVV CRAS C730 M2 SSD.

As modern motherboards are continually transitioning to PCIe Gen5 M.2 SSD slots, most high-end M.2 SSDs, like the previously introduced KLEVV CRAS C930 and C910, are primarily PCIe Gen4. Addressing the demand for mainstream PCIe Gen3 products, KLEVV recently unveiled the CRAS C730 M.2 SSD. It incorporates a Realtek primary controller paired with 3D TLC flash memory and a DRAM cache, delivering consistent read/write performance and remarkable value for money. This positions it as a fresh option in the mainstream M.2 SSD market.

KLEVV revamped their range of M.2 SSD storage offerings towards the end of last year. New additions span from the high-end PCIe Gen4 x4 models starting with the C9 series to the mainstream PCIe Gen3 x4 models that begin with the C7 series. The CRAS C730 M.2 SSD, a member of the C7 series, stands out as a mainstream storage product with a superior cost-to-performance ratio, especially when most gamers perceive minimal difference between Gen3 and Gen4.

The CRAS C730 M.2 SSD employs the PCIe Gen3 x4 interface and is available in three storage capacities: 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. The 1TB model, fresh out of the box, delivers read speeds of up to 3,700 MB/s and write speeds of up to 2,800 MB/s, along with an impressive data write capacity of 640TBW.

Given that the CRAS C730 is a mainstream product, it’s noticeable that it doesn’t come with an external heatsink. However, most mainstream motherboards today come equipped with at least one M.2 slot with a heatsink, so users need not be overly concerned about heat dissipation issues. Of course, if users prefer a storage product with a stylistic heatsink, they might consider previously introduced models like the CRAS C930 or C910.

There are also 2 memory chips on the back of the 1 TB version.

Upon removing the front sticker of the CRAS C730 M.2 SSD, it becomes apparent that the primary controller at the front end is a Realtek RTS5762 controller. This chip, a high-performance SSD controller developed by Realtek, can support both 3D TLC and 3D QLC flash memory. Adjacent to the CRAS C730’s primary controller, you’ll find a NANYA NT5CC128M16IP-DI DDR3L 2Gb memory unit serving as a DRAM cache. The main memory components responsible for data storage are the 3D TLC NAND Flash memory modules, which are produced by ESSENCORE.

KLEVV CRAS C730 M.2 SSD Summary

KLEVV CRAS C730 M2 SSD.

With the introduction of the new mainstream CRAS C730 M.2 SSD, KLEVV has delivered a product that offers impressive performance, reaching read speeds of up to 3500MB/s and write speeds of up to 2900MB/s. As a PCIe Gen3 M.2 SSD, its speed might not match the high-end PCIe Gen4 M.2 SSDs, but whether used for gaming or document and media storage needs, the CRAS C730 M.2 SSD serves well as a system disk or game data disk, ensuring a smooth user experience.

The author’s tests confirmed that the performance of the CRAS C730 M.2 SSD remains unaffected without a heatsink. However, it was observed during testing that installing it in the M.2 slot with a heatsink can effectively lower the SSD’s temperature under continuous read/write operations, which may be a useful reference for users.

While the pricing for the CRAS C730 M.2 SSD has not been officially announced yet, it is estimated that the 1TB model will cost around 2000 yuan, and the 2TB variant will be around 3000 yuan. Compared to the high-end C920 and C930 models, the CRAS C730 is set to be a highly cost-effective choice.
