Authoring software tests

In the video editing software test, the RTX 4070 Ti was tested using DaVinci Resolve Studio 18, which supports dual NVENC encoders. A video was exported without edits or special effects, and the RTX 4070 Ti’s two encoders could run at full load. When exporting in H.265, the export time was shortened by 1/3 compared to the previous generation RTX 30 series graphics card with only one encoder.

Export settings:
Original file duration: 8 minutes and 37 seconds
Original file resolution: 2160p, 4320p original file frame rate: 29.97
Export format: MP4
The export resolution, frame rate: same as the original file
Bit rate: 80000 kbps
Encoding configuration File: Main
Bit Rate Control: Variable Bit Rate
Preset: Faster
Tuning: High Quality

However, most actual video creation involves editing and adding special effects to the original video before exporting. Therefore, an edited project with special effects was also tested. When exporting the video, it was found that the graphics card’s efficiency with special effects could not keep up with the encoder’s efficiency. Like a production line, if the assembly area’s production capacity is lower than the packaging area’s efficiency, the packaging area must slow down to match the assembly area. Therefore, the graphics card’s strong performance and fast special effects processing speed are necessary for the dual encoders to fully function. According to the author’s personal project test, the RTX 4070 Ti’s two encoders can’t run together when exporting a video. It will be slower than the RTX 3090 Ti, but it can also be seen that the time required to export the project is much faster due to the strong performance of the RTX 4070 Ti.

Export Settings:
Duration: 8 minutes 37 seconds
Format: MP4
Resolution: 2160p Frame Rate: 29.97
Bit Rate: 80000 kbps
